IOW Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) for Children and Families is now live

As of today (Monday 24 February), the IOW Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) is now live.
Professionals are required to complete an Inter-Agency Referral Form (IARF) when making a referral to Children’s Social Care. A new Inter-Agency Referral Form (IARF) is now in place. Further information can be found on the Isle of Wight Council’s website or the Isle of Wight Safeguarding Children Partnership’s website.
Reminder to colleagues: before completing an Inter-Agency Referral Form (IARF) you should consult the Threshold Chart in reference to the child/young person and their circumstances. Please note the Threshold Chart has not changed.
Out of Hours service
There is no change for the out of hours service for children’s social care. It continues to be delivered by Hampshire County Council.

For urgent child protection enquiries professionals can phone:
- 01983 823436 during office hours 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Thursday, 8.30am to 4.30pm on Friday or,
- At all other times to contact the Out of Hours service on 0300 555 1373

Concerns about an adult
- If you know you or someone is in immediate danger or if a crime is being committed, call 999
- If you think there has been a crime, but it is not an emergency, call 101.

Local Area Designated Officer (LADO)
As of 31 January 2025, the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) role is being delivered on the Island by the Isle of Wight Children’s Social Care department within Children’s Services. This follows the end of a service level agreement with Hampshire County Council.
